OPT Tiverton Holiday Adopt-A Family

By admin

For the 2014 Holiday season OPT Tiverton has adopted a family recently affected by a tragic fire.

On October 28, 2014 Edmond, Elba, Robert, and Alex Santos lost their home and all of their belongings in a house fire.   It was approximately 2:00pm in the afternoon when Elba lit a candle she purchased from the dollar store.   As she left the room she heard a “pop” sound.  Within minutes the house was engulfed in flames and black smoke.   Hearing her screams her husband Edmond came running, but the smoke was all consuming.    Their son Robert was downstairs.  Once Robert realized what was happening, he somehow managed to find his way through the smoke filled house and rescued both parents and the family dog from the fire.  Robert’s son Alex was not at home at the time.

This tragedy has left this long time Bristolian family without a home and any of the necessary essentials needed for activities of daily living.

Anyone who wishes to donate a gift for this family in need, please stop by and pick out a gingerbread ornament with a description of the item they are hoping to receive this holiday season.

Thank you in advance for your support,
The OPT Tiverton Family
