Running Science at OPT: From Rehab to Power Performance
Using a multiplex of strategies, OPT is back at it helping another runner get back on the track. Here’s Heidi who has been struggling to keep running. After identifying her foot alignment needs, (“These are the most comfortable inserts I’ve ever tried…it feels like I’m gliding again..”) we put Heidi through the OptoGait Digital Running Analysis. During a one-on-one analysis of her findings alongside her Mom (a collegiate runner herself), the OptoGait showed a glaring weakness in that her right leg was measurably underpowered. It was a chronic source of pain. She has been working on limb loading, plyometrics, hip rotation stretching and core/hip strengthening. The program is part of the sports-specific training advanced biomechanics Fellowship from the Gray Institute. Heidi was referred to OPT from good buddy, and also PT, Ian Manning. OPT also collaborates with Ian on golf fitness programs, including ones held at the Troon Golf Academy at Foxwoods.
